New Delhi, March 12: INX media case suspect Karti Chidambaram has been sent to Delhi's Tihar jail till March 24. He has demanded a separate cell while he is in custody. Patiala House Court of Delhi has denied his plea of giving separate cell and separate bathroom in Tihar Jail due to his threat perception. According to CBI remained “evasive” and “non-cooperative” during interrogation and sought 15 days judicial custody.

He had requested for separate cell and also argued that his father P Chidambaram has handled many terror cases when he was Union Minister. During this plea to the court, P Chidambaram was also present in the court.

Karti was held on Feb 28 at Chennai by the CBI in connection with the INX Media Case, when he returned from the United Kingdom. In November, the Supreme Court allowed Karti Chidambaram to go to the UK for his daughter's admission in the Cambridge University.

The CBI had filed an FIR in the matter on May 15 last year alleging irregularities in the FIPB clearance to INX Media for receiving overseas funds to the tune of Rs 305 crore in 2007 when Chidambaram was the Union finance minister. The CBI has also alleged that Karti had received funds to the tune of Rs 10 lakh in the case.
