PM Modi, French President inaugurate UP’s biggest solar power plant

Lucknow, March 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron inaugurate the 75 MW solar Power Plant in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh today.

Built at a cost of around Rs 500 crore by French firm ENGIE, the plant was inaugurated by the two leaders pressing a button to energise the solar panels and dedicated the 75 MW facility to the people.

Some 1,18,600 solar panels have been set up in over 380 acres at Dadar Kalan village on the hilly terrain of the Vindhyas range. Power would be transmitted to Jigna sub-station of Mirzapur range of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd, officials said.

Earlier, PM Modi received the French President at Varanasi from where both the leaders reached Mirzapur. After the programme is over in Mirzapur, both leaders will return to Varanasi to attend other programmes in day hours. PM Modi will also host a lunch in honour of the French President.

Prime Minister Modi and President Macron will then arrive at the famous Assi Ghat in Varanasi, where they will board a boat for a ride along the Ghats of the Ganga, culminating at the historic Dashashwamedh Ghat.

In the afternoon, the Prime Minister will flag off a train between Maduadih Railway Station in Varanasi, and Patna. He will launch various development projects and address a public meeting at the DLW Grounds in Varanasi.
