New Delhi, March 13: Delhi HC has granted bail to Karti Chidambaram’s Chartered Accountant S Bhaskararaman arrested in INX media case. The court has given him bail on a bail bond of Rs 2 lakhs.

Bhaskararaman was granted bail from special judge Sunil Rana. The CA was arrested by Enforcement Directorate (ED) on February 16 from a five-star hotel in New Delhi.

The bail bond which granted bail to Bhaskararaman asks him to cooperate with the ED in all types of investigations as and when required. And also it asks that he cannot leave the country unless and until he is permitted to do so.

Bhaskararaman had sought bail on the ground that he was not required for custodial interrogation and no purpose would be served by keeping him in custody. The CA was sent to jail on February 26 after his custodial interrogation by the ED.

On Monday we saw that INX media case suspect Karti Chidambaram was sent to Delhi's Tihar jail till March 24. He had demanded a separate cell while he is in custody. Patiala House Court of Delhi had denied his plea of giving separate cell and separate bathroom in Tihar Jail due to his threat perception.

Karti was held on Feb 28 at Chennai by the CBI in connection with the INX Media Case, when he returned from the United Kingdom. In November, the Supreme Court allowed Karti Chidambaram to go to the UK for his daughter's admission to the Cambridge University.

The CBI had filed an FIR in the matter on May 15 last year alleging irregularities in the FIPB clearance to INX Media for receiving overseas funds to the tune of Rs 305 crore in 2007 when Chidambaram was the Union finance minister. The CBI has also alleged that Karti had received funds to the tune of Rs 10 lakh in the case.
