Krishi Unnati Mela: An event from March 16 with the aim to double Farmers’ income by 2022

New Delhi, March 14: With the theme of doubling farmers’ income by 2022, an event is to be held named “Krishi Unnati Mela” from March 16 which will last for two days.

 

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a three-day Krishi Unnati Mela at the Indian Agriculture Research Institute. Modi will launch the `Jaivik Kheti’ (organic farming) portal and lay the foundation stone for 25 Krishi Vigyan Kendras. Several hundred farmers will participate in the event, Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh told today.

The Prime Minister will confer the `Krishi Karman’ and `Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhaya Krishi Vigyan Protsahan’ awards on the occasion.

 

The Minister said that apart from seeds and seedlings, the fair will display agro and allied sector technologies.

Krishi Unnati Mela, an annual event that witnesses congregation of lakhs of farmers from across the country, showcases latest technology in agriculture and allied services. Farmers are also updated on various Government initiatives. The event, through a 360 degree information dissemination mechanism like setting up of stalls and pavilions, organizing seminars and conferences, live demonstrations, cultural shows etc provides limitless opportunity to farmers to share, interact and learn about the various initiatives of the Government.
