Bengaluru, March 15: Days after the challenge posed by Jagatika Lingayata Mahasabha, a group of 57 Veerashaiva saints today called on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and voiced their reservation on the demand of special religion status to Lingayats. Referring to the finding of the expert committee report, the representation urged the Chief Minister to negate the recommendations of the committee which allegedly recommends minority religion status to Lingayats.

The Veerashaiva group has threatened state government of staging a massive protest if the government accepts the recommendations of the expert committee. On the other hand, Jagatika Lingayata Mahasabha National in-charge Basavaraj Horatti has once again reiterated the demand for a separate status for Lingayats. In his recent media interaction, Horatti announced that the Jagatika Lingayata Mahasabha would defiantly take a legal recourse if the government fails to meet the demands.
