Srinagar, March 15: Terrorist attack on BJP leader Anwar Khan has led to injury to the security personnel guarding him in Srinagar today.

The PSO was guarding the BJP leader Mohammad Anwar Khan when shots were fired in Balhama area of Khunmoh near Arash Medical College.

It said that the gunmen tried to snatch the rifle from the PSO and two other guards. “The guards retaliated to the fire and foiled their attempt. A policeman was hit by a bullet in the shootout,” said the report. However, the gunmen were successful to run away from the spot after the attack.

Reports quoting BJP spokesperson Altaf Ahmed Thakur said that Khan was fired at by a couple of gunmen.

Thakur, according to these reports, said Khan escaped unhurt in the attack.

 

Meanwhile, police, in a tweet, has refuted the reports of the attack on the BJP leader.

“Report of attack on political activist in khunmoh ,#attack is repulsed by pso at #area under search,” read the tweet from the handle of DIG CKR Srinagar.
