Justice to humanity: Haryana to pass law of death sentence for raping girls below 12 years

Chandigarh, March 16: Haryana Government has taken a big decision which will prove as a security and safety to the state’s girls. Now in Haryana, rape guilties will be sentenced to death or life imprisonment for girls aged 12 years and below. The Haryana Government has passed this bill. Haryana has become the third state to bring the death penalty to Rape.

 

The law was enacted on the last day of the budget session of the Haryana Assembly. The Penal Amendment Bill 2018' presented in this regard in the Assembly was passed unanimously. According to this bill, a minor girl i.e. a girl under the age of 18 years has been provided strict punishment for raping her. Also, those who raped a girl below 12 years of age will be sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment.

 

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said thanks to the unanimity of the passage of the bill through Twitter. He has written - 'Thanks to all MLAs for passing Amendment Bill unanimously in the Legislative Assembly Bill in the Haryana Legislative Assembly, in which provision of death and life imprisonment has been made on the death of the daughters under 12 years of age. This step will be a milestone in keeping the daughters safe."

Rajasthan became the second state on March 9, where rape guilty would get the death penalty for those 12 years and below. Before that in December of 2017, in the state of Madhya Pradesh, the Shivraj Singh Chauhan Government had passed a bill in the Cabinet meeting. According to the bill, rape guilty will be sentenced to death by girls aged 12 years or less. This bill was made a unanimous decision in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
