You want to bring a change, take your own decisions

Mumbai, March 16: “The goals are similar. You want to bring change; you love what you do; you love risks; you take your own decisions and you don’t let people tell you what to do. It takes courage,” said the 20-year-old Miss World Manushi Chhillar while addressing a packed gathering at the ET Women’s Forum. 

“Being a Miss World and being an entrepreneur is quite similar,” said Manushi Chhillar, Miss World 2017, addressing a packed gathering at the ET Women’s Forum on Friday.

Speaking at the event, Manushi Chhillar spoke about her own experiences in trying to improve menstrual hygiene conditions for women, an initiative which led her to become one of the winners of the Beauty with a Purpose project at the Miss World pageant. Incidentally, she was the first Miss World to have also won the Beauty with a Purpose title.

According to Chhillar, the idea took root in her days as a medical student in a rural college in Haryana where she launched Project Shakti, which had to do with women’s menstruation, and in its own way, became an empowerment project of sorts.
