Pitching for youth & women development, better connectivity and employment, PM Modi unfurls various schemes for Manipur

Imphal, March 16: Marking an impeccable start to the Manipur tour by inaugurating the 105th Indian Science Congress Conference, Prime Minister Narendra Modi beefed up on unfurling the various schemes and laid foundation stones of multiple development projects. Briefing the people of Manipur by thanking them on supporting the government, Modi emphasized the efforts taken by Chief Minister Biren of transforming the state by providing transparency in their working patterns.

 

Citing the privilege to highlight and encourage the development of the state, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for schemes worth Rs 750 crores. The schemes are linked to the dreams and jobs of youth, women empowerment and connectivity, these development schemes will bring the state to new height and fervor.

Modi has always encouraged women development and believes that woman power in this state has always been a source of inspiration for the country. Encouraging developments pertaining to women and daughters of the country, Modi inaugurated a park dedicated to the great revolutionary and daughter of the nation Rani Gaidinliu.

 

Further bolstering education and facilities for the girls living in the hilly and tribal areas, the state government has undertaken the construction of hostels for girls especially in the tribal areas and one such hostel will be inaugurated on this occasion.

 

Providing better health facilities for the mothers and babies, almost 1000 Anganwadi Centers have been inaugurated in the state. These centers will enable the reach of proper nutrition and medical facilities to the women and her child. These Anganwadi’s will be under the umbrella of the National Nutrition Mission started by the government by allowing the beneficiaries by the scheme.

 

Laying a foundation stone for construction of accommodation for teachers and doctors in 19 specified centers will help reduce the lack of problems and hardships faced by them in the hilly areas due to lack of accommodation.

Gauging the etwork of transportation, PM Modi said that at present, seven out of eight States of North Eastern India are connected by Rail Network. The government has laid projects to connect remaining State capitals including Imphal in North East to broaden the scale of network. Apart from this, focusing on connectivity the PM emphasized the development on enhancing the reach of people through road connectivity and road transportation.

 

At the beginning of 2014, the State had only 1200 kms of total declared length of National Highways. But, in the last four years the government has declared another 460 kms length of Roads as National Highways.

Enhancing police recruitment in the state, Modi urged all the DGs of Police during their 2014 Annual Conference to broad base police recruitment. However there 438 candidates including 136 female candidates from North East States have joined Delhi Police.

 

Government of India has sanctioned 10 India Reserve Battalions for North Eastern States which include two battalions for Manipur. These two battalions will directly provide job opportunities to about 2,000 youth in the State.

 

With these unfurling of foundation stones, Manipur will surely transform itself in a state owing to make the North-East to be the New Engine of India’s growth.
