Jagtar Singh Tara held guilty for former CM Beant Singh assassination

Amritsar, March 17: Terrorist Jagtar Singh Tara has been convicted in the case of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh Murder case. In the case, the sentence will be heard tomorrow.

On March 9, the final arguments in the special court of Burail Jail were completed in the case. After that the next hearing took place on Friday 16th March, in which Tara was convicted. Now the hearing will be held tomorrow on 17th March, where the case will be pronounced. Jagtar Singh Tara's lawyer Simran gave this information.

In the previous hearing, in the court of additional district and sessions judge JS Sidhu, Tara had said that he remained on the statements made on his January 25, 2018. During the previous hearing, the CBI counsel had asked Tara for 162 questions under CRPC-313.

On this, the judge had asked Tara to furnish testimony in the defense of himself, but Tara had refused to testify in his defense while answering the questions of the CBI counsel. He said that the statements which he has given in writing are the same.

In January this year, Tara had submitted a six-page confession to the court, stating that he did not regret killing Beant Singh. He had told the court that Beant Singh was responsible for the killings of thousands of innocent Sikh youths, and hence they were left with no option but to avenge the deaths.
