Agartala, March 21: After meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tripura’s newly elected Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb called on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and met him and discussed various issues regarding law and order situation in Tripura.

CM Biplab Kumar Deb and his deputy Jishnu Deb Burman on Tuesday called on Home Minister Rajnath Singh and discussed with him various issues, including the security situation in the state, an official said. CM Deb briefed the home minister about the law and order situation in Tripura and the steps taken to improve it, a home ministry official said.

Our first call as CM and Deputy CM on Hon'ble HM @rajnathsingh ji. HE played an instrumental role in the historic win of BJP in Tripura. @HMOIndia sanctioned 2 Indian Reserve Battalions of State Armed Force for Tripura which will generated direct employment for about 2200 youth, tweeted Biplab Kumar Deb.

This was Deb's first visit to New Delhi after the BJP formed its first government in the state, demolishing the Left Front, which ruled the state for 25 years, in the recent Assembly polls. Further CM Deb is expected to meet Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and seek a package to tide over the state's financial crisis.

CM Biplab Kumar Deb and his deputy on Monday also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also attended a lunch hosted by Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan for MPs on the occasion of 'Gudi Padwa' and 'Ugadi'. "Our meeting was very fruitful. We had a few issues to discuss with Prime Minister. It was a good meeting," said Biplab Kumar Deb after meeting PM Modi.
