Srinagar, March 22: Brave hearts continue to give supreme sacrifice for the country! At least five security men including three Army men and two policemen were martyred on Wednesday after a fierce encounter that took place in dense forests of the frontier district of Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir. The combing operation is still underway.

Besides two policemen, three Army personnel were martyred in the encounter between a group of terrorists and security forces that has been going on since Tuesday in the dense forests of Arampora, about 12 kms from the district headquarters of Kupwara. However, the Army is yet to officially announce the death of its soldiers, while the police have identified them as Deepak and Ashraf.

Meanwhile, Security forces eliminated four unidentified terrorists and recovered heavy arms and ammunition from the encounter site. Security forces including Army’s 41 Rashtriya Rifles, JK Police Special Operations Group (SOG) launched a joint operation after getting an input about the movement of seven Pakistani terrorists in the area.

Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Dr. Nirmal Singh paid tribute to the two policemen martyred during the encounter. He, in a Twitter post, said, “My tributes to the Police and Army personnel martyred in Halmatpora Kupwara gunfight today. I convey my heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families of the deceased and I pray for the peace of the departed souls.”

On March 12, Security forces killed three terrorists in a gunbattle in Hakura region of Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir. Interestingly, the Indian security forces have led a massive war against terrorism and terrorists in the inner parts of Jammu-Kashmir and forward areas. Therefore, Anti-Terrorism operation is continued with such a speed that more than 206 terrorists were eliminated by Indian troops last year.
