PM Modi, President Steinmeier discuss ways to deepen India-Germany ties

New Delhi, March 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier visited Sunder Nursery in New Delhi yesterday. During their meeting, both the leaders are believed to have discussed ways to further deepen ties between the two countries in various areas.

The Prime Minister said, he had the honour of taking President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to Delhi's Sunder Nursery. PM Modi said they had wonderful discussions on a wide range of issues. 

In the morning, the visiting dignitary was accorded Ceremonial Reception at Rashtrapati Bhawan. Steinmeier also met President Ram Nath Kovind.

Talking to media, the German President said, his country is looking with admiration to the manner in which India is dealing with its diversity.

"We have our common economic interests. You know perhaps Germany has heavily invested here in India, more than 1 thousand 800 companies are invested, German companies have created more than 400 thousand jobs here in India but you know this is not the end, there is still huge potential, and this should give new dynamic".

Earlier, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and External Affairs Sushma Swaraj met the German President. He is on a five-day visit to India from the 22nd of this month. He will visit Chennai today.

The bilateral economic cooperation between the two countries has been robust. Germany is India’s largest trading partner in Europe and the 6th largest trading partner in the world.
