Jammu University acts tough on anti-social elements for allegedly indulging in vandalism; bans entry in campus

Srinagar, March 26: University of Jammu on Sunday taking a stringent action on the four students who are currently under suspension for allegedly indulging in violence, vandalism and disturbance of classes has banned their entry.

 

Notably, Jammu University on 22nd and 23rd March have witnessed few ugly incidents of violence, vandalism, disturbance of classes and functions by a small group of students. After this anti-national activity, University of Jammu released a statement in which it said, “It is for the information of all concerned that the University of Jammu has witnessed few ugly incidents of violence, vandalism, disturbance of classes and functions by a small group of suspended students and outsiders on 22nd and 23rd March 2018.”

The statement also said, “Taking cognizance of the situation, the entry of the suspended students has been banned in the Campus by the University Authorities and Police has also been informed accordingly. All the Students, Scholars, University employees and the public, in general, are accordingly requested to kindly bring their Identity cards with them and cooperate with the University Security while visiting the University Campus.” “Students are further appealed to continue attending their classes without any fear,” the statement added.


Last week, on Thursday, a group of four students were suspended for indulging in violence and their entry to the campus was banned. However, next day, the protesting students including those who were suspended for indulging in violence, took out a march on the campus and asked the students to boycott their classes and also forced the cancellation of all minor exams being conducted in different academic departments of the university.

The suspended students, later on, disrupted the inaugural function of the second state universities sports championship. According to the local media, a protest by students over Wi-Fi facility and quality food in hostels turned ugly on Thursday which turned leading into an argument between the Dean Students Welfare and the students. The students demand action against the DSW.
