MP to give incentives for TB patient’s diet, doctors for notification and treatment

Bhopal, March 25: Madhya Pradesh Health Minister Rustam Singh informed that target has been set to eradicate tuberculosis (TB) from the state by 2025. He said that Rs 500 will be given for nutritious diet to patients from diagnosis till recovery.

In addition to this, Rs 500 will be given to private doctors for notification of the patient and Rs 500 as incentive to treat him or her under the revised national tuberculosis control programme.

 

Appealing o people for taking precaution towards infection of TB in the state, the health minister said that doctors should be consulted in case of cough for over two weeks, fever in evening, loss of weight and appetite, coughing up blood, and sweating in the night.

Health Minister Singh told that the revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme has been implemented in the state for diagnosis of TB. CB NAAT machines have been set up in all districts in the state. Daily regimen course has been introduced in all districts from October 2017 apart from universal DST facility for eradication of tuberculosis since January 2018. It has eased the study of impact of medicine on patients.

Legal action for not notifying TB patient: Health Minister informed that the centre government has issued notification on March 16, 2018. Action will be taken under Sections 269 and 270 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for not stepping up in regard to public health in case of not notifying tuberculosis patient by clinical agency, pharmacy or drug seller, getting notification of tuberculosis patient.

Also, Six month imprisonment or fine both can be awarded under Section 269 for working negligently so as to cause possibility of spreading infection of the dangerous disease. Two years imprisonment or fine both can be awarded for under Section 270 for working malevolently, so as to causes danger to life from infection of dangerous disease.

Multi Drug Resistant (MDR), dot plus treatment scheme has been implemented in entire state for diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis patients since the year 2011. Free treatment is being provided to TB patient by setting up modern lab (C and DST) in Bhopal, Indore and Jabalpur and CBNAAT machines in 51 districts.
