New Delhi, March 28: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has ordered a re-examination of Class 12 and 10, economics and math examinations respectively. Dates for fresh exams will be announced within a week.

Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar addressing a presser stated that he understands the problem of students and that new security measures will be implemented to avoid these kinds of incidents.

“An investigation is underway into the matter, and that tighter security will be put in place while distributing the question papers,” Javadekar said after the CBSE’s decision of re-examination.

The decision has been taken in lieu of the manner the examinations had been conducted. The Board stated that the fresh dates of the reexamination would be put up soon within a week on the CBSE's website.

“The board has taken cognisance of certain happenings in the conduct of certain examinations as are being reported. With a view to uphold the sanctity of the board examinations and in the interest of fairness to the students, the board has decided to re-conduct the examinations for the following subjects,” it said.

A hand written question paper of the Class XII Economics examination had allegedly been circulating on WhatsApp a day before the examination. Many questions in this leaked paper were the same that appeared in the actual examination.

Over 28 lakh students are taking the Class X and Class XII board exams this year, which began on March 5.
