New Delhi, March 28: Taking a cognizance in Saudi Arabia missile attack in which one civilian was killed, India on Wednesday strongly condemned the renewed missile attacks targeting civilian areas in the direction of Riyadh and other cities and reiterated its resolve to fight terrorism and violence in all its forms.

The Ministry of External Affairs released a statement that read, ''We strongly condemn the renewed missile attacks targeting civilian areas in the direction of Riyadh and other cities of Saudi Arabia. We are deeply concerned about the escalating situation threatening the lives of innocent civilians. We reiterate our resolve to fight terrorism and violence in all its forms.''

Notably, Saudi Arabia on Sunday intercepted seven short-range ballistic missiles fired by Houthi rebels from Yemen that targeted residential suburbs in Riyadh. In this deadly attack, one Egyptian citizen was killed while two others were injured. This was a fifth incident that took place in a time period of last four months.

Earlier in the month of January this year, Saudi Arabia intercepted a ballistic missile fired by Yemen’s Houthi rebels over its capital city Riyadh. Interestingly, it was the same type of missile that was launched earlier at one of the kingdom's major international airports on the outskirts of the capital, Riyadh. Saudi officials blamed Iran for being behind the launch of the Burkan 2-H rocket and described it as an act of war.

The civil war in Yemen has killed more than 10,000 civilians and displaced 3 million others. Yemen is also suffering from the disastrous outbreak of cholera due to which 2180 civilians are killed while suspect cases have reached to 8,72,415 in the time period of 6 months.
