No stopping to Indian shooters in ISSF Junior World Cup; finishes at 2nd spot with 22 medals

Sydney, March 29: Young Indian talent shining high in the international sports arena has made the whole country proud. Notably, Indian shooters finished at a close 2nd spot just behind China in Medals tally of ISSF Junior World Cup (Shooting) in Sydney, Australia.

 

Indian contingent bagged a total of 22 medals including 9 gold, 5 silver and 8 bronze medals while China finished at the top with 25 medals that included 9 gold, 8 silver and 8 bronze. Earlier, in the day, India were leading the table as Muskan bagged the gold medal in women's 25m pistol on Wednesday. But China reclaimed the top position after two medals in the finals of skeet event.

The 16-year-old Muskan defeated China's Qin Sihang and Thailand's Kanyakorn Hirunphoem. On the other side, the team gold was won by Muskan, Manu Bhaker and Devanshi Rana, adding to India's rich medal haul. Meanwhile, Indian trio of Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Ayush Rudraraju and Gurnilal Singh Garcha bagged the team silver in men's junior skeet with a total of 348.


Earlier, in the tournament, Manu Bhaker grabbed a Gold medal in the 10m air pistol women’s individual category. In the 10m air pistol men's event, Gaurav Rana won a silver medal while Anmol Jain grabbed the bronze. Cheema, Rana and Anmol bagged the team gold while Arya and Adarsh Singh won in the doubles category.

Interestingly, the third spot in the medal tally was grabbed by Italy with only 6 medals including three gold, one silver and two bronze. India finished on top in Senior World Cup 2 weeks back.
