India’s relations with Japan have strengthened under the leadership of PM Modi: Sushma Swaraj addresses Indian Diaspora in Tokyo

Tokyo, March 29: “India’s relations with Japan have strengthened under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” said External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj while addressing the Indian Diaspora in Tokyo. On Wednesday External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj touched down Tokyo for her three-day visit to Japan. 

Addressing the Indian Diaspora at the Vivekanand Cultural Centre EAM Swaraj lauded the contribution of the diaspora in strengthening our relations with Japan and creating a positive image about India in Japan.

 

Prior to addressing Indian diaspora, EAM Sushma Swaraj visited Indian Embassy in Tokyo and inked Visitor’s book.

 

Today EAM Sushma Swaraj is expected to co-chair the 9th India-Japan Strategic Dialogue with Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono.

On her arrival, Sushma Swaraj was warmly received by Indian Ambassador Sujan Chinoy and Ambassador Hideaki Hoshi of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

 

As per an official release by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the two sides will review all aspects of bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest.

The MEA further said that the visit of Japanese Prime Minister to India in 2017 gave 'fresh impetus' to the bilateral ties between the two countries. "Bilateral relations have been strengthened in diverse sectors in recent years. The visit of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to India in September 2017 has given fresh impetus to the ties," the MEA said.

"Japan is today one of the largest investors in India, with a growing presence in infrastructure projects, manufacturing, financial markets and capacity-building, among others," it added.
