Mumbai, March 30: Dawood Ibrahim’s aide and the 1993 Mumbai blast accused Farooq Takla, has been sent to 12-day police custody. Farooq Takla was wanted in with the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case. On March 12, 1993, Bombay was rocked by 13 explosions in different parts of the city. It resulted in 257 fatalities, and over 700 were injured. 

He was recently deported from Dubai and arrested by the Mumbai Police. A special Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (TADA) court here sent underworld kingpin Dawood Ibrahim’s aide to police custody till April 9, 2018.

Farooq Takla was arrested on March 8 this year after being extradited from United Arab Emirates (UAE). He faces charges such as spreading and sponsoring terrorism, waging a war against the nation, criminal conspiracy, murder, attempt to murder, and voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons, and had been absconding after the blasts.

Farooq Takla is considered to be a close aide of fugitive mafia don Dawood Ibrahim. He fled the country after he was grilled by CBI in connection with the 1993 blasts.
