New Delhi, March 31: After New Delhi acted tough against Islamabad by sending a series of note-verbale over harassment and intimidation of Indians diplomats, Pakistan itself laid down on its knee on Friday and decided to resolve the issue.

Notably, India and Pakistan have mutually agreed to resolve matters related to the treatment of diplomats and diplomatic premises. The two countries issued a press statement saying, “India and Pakistan have mutually agreed to resolve matters related to the treatment of diplomats and diplomatic premises, in line with the 1992 'Code of Conduct' for treatment of Diplomatic or Consular personnel in India and Pakistan.”

The Code provides for smooth and unhindered functioning of the diplomatic and consular officials of the two countries in conformity with the international laws without violating their privileges and immunities. The Code also says that the two countries should not resort to intrusive and aggressive surveillance and actions such as verbal and physical harassment, disconnection of phone lines and et cetera.

Earlier this month, New Delhi acted tough against Pakistan and sent many note-verbale to the Islamabad over continuing harassment and intimidation of Indians officials and staff members of the High Commission. Through note-verbale, India asked Pakistan to ensure safety and security of its officials working at the Indian mission in Pakistan.

However, the incidents of harassing Indian diplomats in Pakistan began in January this year. On the other side, Pakistan tried to fool the whole world by accusing India of harassing its diplomats in New Delhi. Pakistan's High Commissioner to India, Sohail Mahmood on Thursday returned to New Delhi after he was called back by Islamabad last week accusing incidents of harassment and intimidation against him and his family.
