Boosting ‘Film Diplomacy’, Thai Film Festival showcases varied culture, cuisine of Thailand

Mumbai, March 31: Mesmerizing beaches, the variety of animal species, temples, nature hugging jungles, spicy delicacies envelopes Thai culture. Who will not love to experience Thailand? Mumbai hosted the royal ‘Thai Film Festival’ boosting the ‘Film Diplomacy’ amongst India and Thailand. 

Thai Film Festival kicked off on Thursday at Films Division Complex at Cumballa Hill. Thai films from various genres such as short film, documentary, animation, comedy-drama, action, and horror were screened. In all 8 Thai films were screened composing 6 feature films, one short film, and one documentary film.

Thai Film Festival opened up with great zeal with the theme of Thai food and cultural performances. It was a brilliant opportunity for Indians to taste Thai food and culture through the films that were screened.

The names of the films that were screened at the festival were:

  1. Nine
  2. The Legend of Muay Thai: 9 Satra
  3. By The Time It Gets Dark
  4. Twin Monkeys
  5. Premika
  6. Phantom of Illumination
  7. Santi-Vina
  8. Bad Genius

Thai Film Festival was hosted by Consul-General of Thailand Ekapol Poolpipat and the Director General of Films Division Satyendra Prakash, the event showcased cuisine, culture and cinema.

Thai Consul General Ekapol Poolpipat said “the fest will not only allow the Indian public to experience Thai Culture through films, food and cultural performances but also underline cooperation between India and Thailand in cultural and academic exchanges through film diplomacy.”

To promote academic exchange, the Consulate-General, in cooperation with the Whistling Woods International had also organised panel discussion with Thai producer and directors on Film Production and Animation in Thailand. Representative of National Federation of Thai Film Associations and President of Foreign Film Production Services Association of Thailand also met with Indian producers to promote Thailand as a destination for film-making.
