Mumbai, March 5: Giving a major relief to filmmakers, government announces to set up a single-window clearance system within two months for filmmakers to facilitate all types of clearances faster and under one roof.

In a conversation with filmmaker Karan Johar at the inaugural session of FICCI Frames 2018 yesterday, Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani said the government is aiming to bring organisations like National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and Children's Film Society of India (CSFI) under one umbrella so that a filmmaker with an idea does not have to run from one desk to another to get the support for executing a film.

"We have seen that in the government till now there are certain aspects of organization that are working in silos so be it the director film festival, be it the national film development corporation, the Films Division or the children's film society,” I&B minister said.

She further added “when you work in silos you basically express to the world and to your own industry that we view the industry as a fragmented industry, which is not the view of this government. We are hopeful that we have a committee which will bring all of these functionalities under one umbrella."
