Los Angeles, March 5: Winning hearts for his chameleonic work as Winston Churchill in ‘Darkest Hour’, Gary Oldman pulled off the Oscars for the best lad actor. Frances McDormand nabbed her second best actress Oscar, two decades after winning an award for “Fargo.”  The Oscar-winner turned her speech into a moment of feminist solidarity, beseeching all the evening’s female nominees to stand up. While the audience couldn’t stop applauding the work and talent of Guillermo del Toro,  for The Shape of Water, as it won the Best Picture and Best Director Award.

 

The 90th Academy Awards happening at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles has a lot in its store to excite fans all over the world. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is passing out its golden statuettes for the 90th time on Sunday, along with some help from returning host Jimmy Kimmel and many of the industry’s brightest stars.

The 90th Academy Awards was filled with excitement for the movies and a celebration of women and equality. This year’s ceremony saw the likes of Dunkirk, Get Out, The Shape of Water and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri compete to take him the coveted Best Picture trophy.

Best Animated Feature winner “Coco” also spoke to the cultural divides roiling America and the world. Sam Rockwell and Allison Janney picked up supporting actor and actress honors. Rockwell was singled out for his performance as a bigoted police officer in “Three Billboards” while Janney was rewarded for her turn as the caustic parent of figure skater Tonya Harding in “I,Tonya.”

The Sridevi while most media at home played malicious monsters post her death. Never forget how they ignored the legendary Om Puri too, while he was remembered at Hollywood posthumously. We have failed ourselves as a cinema loving nation.
