New Delhi, March 5: Ahead of class 10 and 12 Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) board exams, President Ram Nath Kovind has extended his wishes to the students appearing for these examinations.

"As school board examinations begin all over the country, best wishes to the boys and girls taking the exams as well as to their families. I am confident your hard work, focused preparations and honesty of effort will take you far," he said.

Nearly 28 lakh students across the country will appear for the CBSE Class 10 and 12 board examinations, starting today. The Class 10 exams will end on April 4 and the Class 12 exams on April 13.

The Class 10 students will be taking the compulsory board exams after a gap of seven years.

In 2009, the human resource development (HRD) ministry made the Class 10 exams optional. Last year, the ministry decided to reintroduce the compulsory board exam for Class 10.

The board has, for the first time, also allowed special concessions and facilities for students with special needs. Students with disabilities can use a computer to write the examination as per their needs and skills. However, such students will have to make arrangements for their own laptops or computers.
