Istanbul, March 5: Taking a serious on the threats, the United States Embassy in Turkey remained closed on Monday. The information was given by US Embassy in Turkey of remaining closed on Monday due to an unspecified security threat and urged Americans to stay away from the embassy.

Notably, the US Embassy in Turkey posted a statement on its webpage on Sunday urging all the American citizens to avoid the embassy in Ankara as well as large crowds and to keep a low profile. The statement also noted that the embassy will be closed due to a security threat.

Without giving any further details, US Embassy added that the Embassy will announce its reopening once it resumes services. However, the embassy did not give any details on the threat. Importantly, Visa interviews and other routine services would also remain closed.

In the year 2013, a suicide bomber detonated an explosive in outside the US Embassy in Ankara, the capital of Turkey. In a suicide attack, the bomber along with a Turkish guard was killed. Turkish officials blamed the attack on domestic leftists. Importantly, relations between NATO allies, Washington and Ankara have been strained over a number of issues.
