Dehradun, March 5: 17 years ago, where the cultivation of flowers was just 150 hectares, it has now increased 10 times. The annual turnover is around 200 million this is the account of flower farming in Uttarakhand, which has about 10 thousand farmers.

Considering the trend of farmers towards floriculture, the state government has now decided to focus on this and promote it on a cluster basis. If the efforts were made, in the year 2019, the area of floriculture will increase not only 25%, but also 50 new clusters will be ready. There will be a special focus on the Char Dham Yatra route. The reason is that there will not be problems of flower marketing.

Farming of flowers in Uttarakhand, with heterogeneous geography, can prove to be crucial in shaping the economy. In this episode, the efforts of the government involved in doubling the income of the farmers are to carry floriculture from the field to the hills. The drill is going on for this. Garden Director Dr. B.S Negi explains that the state has increased the trend of farmers towards the cultivation of flowers. That is why it is being promoted on a cluster basis.

According to Dr. Negi, special focus will be on the cultivation of flowers on the Chardham yatra routes. There will be no problem of flower marketing due to travel. Also, sufficient supply of flowers can be supplied in Chardham Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. Not only this, in other areas, farmers will not have problems in marketing, and for this, they will be arranged in place of Bayer-Seller Meets. This will benefit both the farmer and the buyer.
