Chandra Babu reviews key irrigation projects; pitches for real-time monitoring

Amaravati, March 6: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandra Babu Naidu has asked officials to clear the outstanding commitments so as to ensure availability of water across the state. Addressing the review meeting at the state secretariat, Babu directed stakeholder to keep close track on 20 ongoing irrigation projects listed by the state government.

The Chief Minister advised state machinery to work on war footprints to meet the deadlines. Reviewing the progress of irrigation projects with the help of digital platform, the Chief Minister instructed concern agencies and authorities to speed-up the construction work such as underground pipelines and other required eco-system.

On the prestigious Polavaram Irrigation Project, officials briefed Naidu about the progress of headworks, the Right Main Canal, and the Left Main Canal. According to state officials, near about of 53% has been completed with the expenditure of ₹13,053.91 crores till January 2018. Commenting on the field reports, the TDP National President has asked officials to produce a weekly progress report on key areas like the spill channel and spillway.
