New Delhi, March 6: Over 350 instances of Ceasefire Violations have been recorded along the Line of Control in the time period of two months. This was said by Raksha Rajya Mantri Dr. Subhash Bhamre in a written reply to Sanjay Rautin in Rajya Sabha on Monday.

He said, “There have been 351 instances of Ceasefire Violations along the Line of Control under operational control of Army in Jammu and Kashmir in the current year.” In the month of January this year, 209 incidents of ceasefire violations were recorded while till 21st February, 142 incidents were recorded.

“Appropriate response to these ceasefire violations has been carried out wherever necessary. During ceasefire violations, the inhabitants of border villages, which are vulnerable to shelling/firing, are shifted to safer locations to prevent any loss of life. All arrangements are made to shift them to safer locations,” he added.

“The defences along the border are periodically fortified to withstand attacks by continuous improvements in the defences to make them more robust and resilient,” Dr. Subhash Bhamre noted.

Importantly, Pakistan has violated the ceasefire along the International Border (IB) and the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir more than 720 times last year, the highest in the past seven years. On the other side, in tactical operations and retaliatory cross-border firings along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, Indian Army has eliminated at least 138 Pakistan Army personnel last year.
