Srinagar, March 6: Jammu and Kashmir is now slowly and steadily coming on the right track now as the youth are rejecting terrorism, radicalization, stone pelting and returning to the mainstream. Notably, a young boy who had earlier joined terrorist has left the path of violence and destruction and came back to the mainstream.

Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police S P Vaid on Monday via his Twitter account informed returning of a local boy from terrorism to mainstream and also wished him luck for further journey. He said, “One more young boy of the valley who had chosen a path of violence a couple of days back has joined back his family. I wish the family happy reunion. Great step forward.”

However, police refused to disclose the youth’s identity due to security reasons and said that he had joined terrorist group some time ago. The boy returned home safely after their families urged him. Earlier, in the month of January this year, another three young Kashmiri boys have left the path of terrorism and returned to home safely.

The string of local Kashmiris coming back to mainstream started after a Majid Khan returned to his family. Majid Khan, a resident of Anantnag in south Kashmir was the first to surrender and came back to the mainstream after his parents urged him.

Majid surrendered to the police on 17 of November last year. He was a student and a popular football goalkeeper who later joined Laskar-e-Toiba terror outfit. After Majid, one more youth from north Kashmir’s Baramulla district who had joined militancy returned home safely.
