Damascus, March 6: Turkey led Syrian forces eliminated at least 2,777 terrorists belonged to PKK terror organization in Syria's Afrin province and liberated a total of 101 villages. Notably, the most dangerous terrorist organization Islamic State and others including PKK/YPG is on the brink of extinction in middle-east countries including Syria.

Syrian forces with the help of Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) liberated two villages of Syria named as Ballursanik and Alyiji and eliminated as many as 2,777 terrorists of YPG or PKK terror organization since the offensive ‘Operation Olive Branch’ was launched.

The offensive ‘Operation Olive Branch’ was launched on January 20, this year and since then Turkish forces and Syrian forces liberated 136 locations including three town centers, 101 villages, 22 strategic mountains and hills and two PKK bases. Interestingly, Afrin has been a major hideout for the PKK since July 2012 when the Assad regime in Syria left the city to the terror group without putting up a fight.

On the other side, it has been over 15 days now but still, the bloodiest episode continues in Syria continues. The death toll has mounted to over 600 civilians after the Syrian Government forces launched a series of airstrikes with rockets, barrel bombs since February 18 this year on rebel-held Eastern Ghouta.

Eastern Ghouta is held by rebels since 2012 and is the last opposition pocket around Damascus but the province is dominated by the Islamist faction Jaish al-Islam. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is keen to retake Eastern Ghouta with an apparently imminent ground assault. So far, over 340,000 people have been killed since the civil war erupted in 2011. Importantly, Syria is affected by the civil war since many years due to which thousands of civilians lost their lives while millions were displaced.
