New Delhi March 7: After instilling GST, nation gears up for ‘e-way bill’! The transporters will mandatorily have to carry ‘e-way bill’ when moving goods of more than Rs.50,000 from one place to another. From 1st June 2018 ‘e-way bill’ rules for intra-state transport will uniformly apply to all states.
Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, said ‘e-way bill’ will help dealers who do inter-state transactions in multiple states as e-way bill process will now be common across states. Arun Jaitley informed this during 25th GST Council meeting.
What is an e-way bill?
The National e-Way bill system is an online document, that will help transporters for movements of goods of more than Rs.50,000 from one place to another.
How can you generate e-way bill?
E-way bill can be generated through SMS, Android App and by Site-to-Site Integration (through API). When an e-way bill is generated a unique e-way bill number (EBN) is allocated and is available to the supplier, recipient, and the transporter.
By June, Centre has given time for implementation of the e-way bill to all the states, so that the transporter who is buyer or seller of goods in a bulk will start use of it and can deliver his goods at any part of the country without facing any hurdle.
