As many as 4,799 stone-pelting incidents, 872 terrorist attacks reported in JK in last three years

New Delhi, March 7: As many as 4,799 stone-pelting incidents and 872 terror incidents took place in last three years. This was said by State Home Minister Hansraj Ahir in a written to Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

 

Giving the information in detail, Minister Hansraj Ahir said that 730 incidents of stone pelting were reported in the year 2015. “In 2016, he said, 2,808 such incidents were reported, and in 2017, the incidents numbered 1,261,” he added.

Replying to another question, the State Home Minister said that there were 872 incidents of terrorist attacks took place in Jammu and Kashmir in last three years. He said that there were 208 incidents of terrorist violence in Jammu and Kashmir in 2015, 322 in 2016 and 342 such incidents in 2017.

The Minister further noted that the total number of terrorists killed in past three years in the state was 471, the total number of security force personnel martyred were 201, and 72 civilians were also killed during the above said period.

"Jammu and Kashmir have been affected by the terrorist violence that is sponsored and supported from across the border. The levels of terrorist violence in the hinterland of Jammu and Kashmir are linked to the infiltration from across the border," Minister Hansraj Ahir concluded.
