Madhya Pradesh inks MoU with UK University to curb violence against women

Bhopal, March 8: In a bid to make a work plan to end violence against women, Madhya Pradesh Police and Sheffield Hallam University signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the presence of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday.

A study team from the Sheffield Hallam University will study innovative efforts like setting up one stop centres to put an end to crime and violence against women in Madhya Pradesh and share experiences of UK.

This study team will give suggestions to Madhya Pradesh Police to work more effectively in the state’s social and economic background.

Besides this, the team will study the efforts made by the state government in providing justice to victimized women, to conserve their rights and protect them. The team will also prepare an outline to provide training to newly-appointed police officials for police officials posted in the field.

The Chief Minister said on the occasion that women in the state have been given 33 percent reservation in police recruitments so that they not only strengthen themselves but can also protect their rights.

Meanwhile, the study team has begun research work apart from study of work system of Gulmohar Mahila Suraksha Kendra set up in Vidisha.
