PM Modi strongly pitches for treating daughters and sons as equal after launching Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao movement in Rajasthan

Jhunjhunu, March 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched the expansion of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao movement and National nutrition Mission in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. During the event, PM Modi strongly pitched for treating daughters and sons as equal.

 

Addressing a huge gathering, PM Narendra Modi said that there was no question of discrimination against daughters. He remarked, “Beti bojh nahi, poore parivaar ki aan, baan aur shaan hai.” At the event, he highlighted the vitality of proper nutrition among children. He also spoke about how Mission Indradhanush had brought about a positive change in the lives of children and women.



Lauding the development of technology, PM Modi said that with the power of technology the entire nation is connected with Jhunjhunu. He reiterated that everyone is equal. “A daughter is not a burden, Please look around us- see how girls are bringing pride and glory for our nation. They are excelling in several fields,” he added.



PM Modi also interacted with beneficiary mothers and girl children of the program. On this occasion, Prime Minister also felicitated District Collectors of 10 districts including Jhunjunu, which have shown excellent performance in implementing the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme. Importantly, giving a fillip to the Government’s initiative to save and educate the girl child, the programme has been expanded from the present 161 districts to 640 all over the country.



In another landmark initiative, the Prime Minister also launched the National Nutrition Mission (NNM) and NNM- ICDS Common Application Software. The mission strives to reduce under-nutrition and low birth weight, bring down anaemia among young children, women and adolescent girls and to reduce the prevalence of stunting among children. Women and Child development minister Maneka Gandhi, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje were present on the occasion.
