New Delhi, March 9: Providing ease of service to the masses, almost every sector has imbibed the use of customer care services. Likewise the Cabinet Secretary P.K Sinha launched ‘I-Metros’ which is an association of all Indian Metro Rail companies.

It is considered as a forum for exchange of ideas, pooling of knowledge and sharing of experience, best practices, innovations etc among the Indian Metro Rail companies to nurture excellence in terms of performance. The “I-Metros” was launched by Mr Sinha on the occasion of the conference on “Indian metros: collaborating for excellence” held on Thursday at Metro Bhawan.

On the occasion, Mr Sinha said, “A new platform has been created, which will go a long way if it progresses in terms of sharing of best practices and adoption of the latest technologies. This suggestion that all Metros, coming up across the country, should share their experiences and best practices, came from none else than the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

On the occasion Mr Sinha released “The Operator’s Story”, a publication by World Bank and Railway and Transport Strategy Centre (RTSC), Imperial College London, on findings of the research on “What makes Metros successful”.

Appreciating the journey of Delhi Metro, Mr. Sinha said, “Metro has been a success story. DMRC has set benchmarks for others in the country. We have all seen Metro grow over the past 15 years. We recognise the contribution it has made. I must congratulate them.”

Union housing ministry secretary D.S. Mishra, said, “The government has come up with a new Metro policy last year, paving way for growth and development of Metro systems in the country.”

Panning out this new forum encourages a series of interaction which enables the department to come up with new ideas and techniques to bring good changes.
