Pension for single women above 50 years in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, March 9: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on the occasion of International Women's day announced the 'Mukhyamantri Mahila Kosh' scheme under which women who aren't married and are above 50 years of age will be entitled to receiving a pension.

Chouhan said that social security pension will be given to widows and grass widows over 50. Private buildings will be taken on rent to run hostels for working women in big cities. Adequate measures will be taken to provide security and facilities to women in these hostels.

He told that the work of manufacturing and supply of take home ration to be distributed in anganwadis of the state will be taken care of by women self-help group federation. Also, the uniforms to be distributed in government schools will also be stitched by the women self-help groups.

“Loan guarantee to federations of skillful women self help groups will be given by the government. He said that women labourers will be given Rs 4,000 every month from their 6th month of pregnancy till childbirth and Rs 12,000 after delivery.”

The Chief Minister said that maximum opportunities would have to be given to promote women power so that the society and the world can move ahead. He appealed to women to move ahead and contribute in development of Madhya Pradesh also to develop.

He said that every day should be considered a day for women. There is need to work in this direction more than simply following a ritual by organizing programme in their honour on just one day.
