Nagpur, Mar 9: “There is an overwhelming response to the work of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in the country and this has reflected in the growth of daily shakhas and number of youth joining the Sangh activities”, observed RSS Sah-Sarkaryawah Dr Krishna Gopal here on Friday.

He was interacting with the media persons at Reshambag premises where the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) of RSS is currently in session. The ABPS meeting will conclude on Sunday and the new Sarkaryawah will be elected on Saturday, he added.

The office-bearers of 35 RSS associated organizations are participating in this meeting in addition to 25 women activists, he further added.

The number of weekly ‘Milan’ also registered an increase of over 2000 taking their number to 16405 from 14986. The monthly meetings or ‘Sangh Mandalis’ as they are called in the RSS Parlance, have gone up to 7976 from 7594 of the previous year. This all put together the number comes to 83,348, he said.

The RSS organizes training camps for its cadre every year. The swayamsevaks are expected to complete their training in RSS in these three camps. This year 86 such training camps were organized throughout the country registering participation of 24139 swayamsevkas. Besides, a Prathamik Shiksha Varg (PSV) is also organized and this year their number came to 1180 with total participation of 95318 swayamsevaks. These two add to a total of 119,457 swayamsevanks who received the RSS training in 2018.

Citing example of recent RSS congregation in Assam Dr Krishna Gopal said that for the first time 31,151 swayamsevaks from all social strata in Assam participated in the special congregation titles ‘Luitporia Hindu Samabesh’ on January 21, 2018 in Guwahati. This was our biggest achievement; he said adding that most tribal groups were also represented in that program. The presence of various religious leaders of tribal communities in that program was indicative of how RSS ideology of nationalism was appealing and attracting them successfully, he said.

He further said that the RSS organized birth centenary of famous Buddhist scholar, former ambassador Kushak Bakula of Laddakh all over the country. Through organizing Hindu Spiritual Service Fair (HSSF) service activities of varied nature like schools, hostels, hospitals etc. conducted by these Hindu spiritual leaders and their organizations for the welfare of neglected and downtrodden sections of the society.

The RSS is undertaking special efforts to reach out farmers, IT professionals and slum-dwellers in metro cities, he said.

The ABPS is expected to take up discussion on resolution related to preservation of native dialects and languages, Dr Krishna Gopal said adding that this was felt necessary as many dialects are on the verge of getting extinct and there is a grave danger to literature preserved in them through the age-old oral tradition.
