Seeping in internet connectivity, BSNL plans to invest Rs 500 crore in Assam interiors

Guwahati, April 1: Working hard towards creating connectivity, the officials are leaving no stones unturned in fulfilling promises made to the people. Achieving the target and enabling internet services to the people in the interiors, in Assam, public sector telecom operator BSNL will invest about 500 crore rupees for mobile service expansion.

 

Chief General Manager of BSNL Assam Sandip Govil said, it will help in better connectivity. Around 900 mobile towers will be set up in hilly Dima Hasaon and Karbi Anglong districts. This project is likely to be completed by March next year, he addad.

Further, Mr. Govil said BSNL has started ambitious Asthamangal project to connect capital places of the North East with high speed bandwidth. He further said all Gram Panchyats will be connected through optical fibre network and steps are being taken in this direction.

He informed that one lakh new mobile connection has been given in Assam in only 10 days in February. The Chief General Manager also informed that the market share of the telecom operator has increased in the country in the last one year.

Enabling internet services has been a pilot project with covering each and every sector under the umbrella of providing the connectivity to the people. Earlier, BSNL laid wifi connection service to the people of Gujarat in Valsad district.

BSNL has a major role to play when it comes to empowering internet services in the country especially in the interiors. No doubt this initiative will give a push to the NorthEast region in becoming the New Engine of India’s growth.
