#DefExpoArambham: Aims to portray India’s defense manufacturing capabilities to the world

Chennai, April 10: Inflowing into the robust era of the defence industry, DefExpo2018 is all set to showcase India’s defence potential. DefExpo2018 aims to position the country as a credible manufacturer and exporter of certain military inventory items. DefExpo18 will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.  

What is DefExpo2018?

For the first time, India will be showcasing its defence export potential at DefExpoIndia which is going to be held in Chennai on 11th April and will go on until 14th April. Country's defence manufacturing capabilities will be exhibited by Indian MSMEs, private industry and Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSU).

Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also took to Twitter saying For the first time, India will be showcasing its defence export potential at @DefExpoIndia. Country's defence manufacturing capabilities will be exhibited by Indian MSMEs, private industry and DPSUs at Chennai from April 11-14.
 
 

Why DefExpo18?

  • DefExpo18 focuses on export as opposed to importing military hardware marks a conceptual shift in Indian defence policy.
  • DefExpo will play a perfect stage to unfold the might of India’s shipbuilding capabilities.
  • DefExpo hopes to position the country as a credible manufacturer and exporter of certain military inventory items.
  • India will unveil its 155mm Advanced Towed Artillery Gun (ATAG) in DefExpo. This is the first time that India has its own ATAG which has been designed and developed by DRDO in partnership with Kalyani Group, Tata Power and OFBs.
  • DefExpo 2018 will also uncover India’s growing private industry and spreading MSME base for components and sub-systems.

 

‘DefExpo India 2018’: An international land, naval and internal homeland security systems exhibition will be the platform provided by ‘DefExpo India 2018’. More than 80 countries will showcase their defence expertise during the expo. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating the 10th edition of DefExpo in Chennai on 12th April.
