Huge cache of automatic weapons were recovered in Manipur by Assam Rifles

Imphal, April 10: In a crackdown, a huge cache of automatic weapons and other warlike stores was recovered by 5 JAK RIF of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis HQ IGAR (South) in a joint operation with Bishenpur Commandos.The recovery included two M 16 Rifles, four AK-56 Rifles and one A4 Rifle along with Underbarrel Grenade Launchers (UBGL). 

Based on input from sources a search operation was launched and weapons were recovered from Pat area of Ishok Makha Leikai, Bishenpur District.

 

This recovery is a major success on part of Assam Rifles to thwart nefarious designs of the UG groups.

The Mon Battalion of Assam along with a police representative during an operation at Ponyu Murrang, Lungwa village in Mon on April 9 apprehended two NSCN (K) cadres. The two cadres were identified as Aching Konyak and Akham Konyak.

According to press release received from Assam Rifles on Monday, one extortion slip signed by ‘self-styled major general’ Nyemlang Konyak of NSCN (K) and a note book containing details of tax collection and other incriminating documents were found from their possession. The accused along with the seized items were handed over to Mon Police Station for further investigation, it was informed.
