Yemeni forces launched ballistic missile at Kingdom; unspecified number of Saudi soldiers killed

Sana’a, April 10: In a retaliatory action to Saudi led campaign in Yemen, Yemeni forces have launched a domestic-made ballistic missile at a military base in Kingdom. The missile attack from Yemen comes two weeks after Houthi rebels launched seven short-range ballistic missiles that targeted residential suburbs in Saudi Arabia. 

Notably, the Yemeni forces on Tuesday launched a domestic-made ballistic missile named ‘Zelzal-2’ at a Saudi Arabia’s Nahouqa military base in the region of Narjan. However, in this attack, an unspecified number of Saudi soldiers have been killed and injured due to multiple artillery shells. According to the sources, in the attack military vehicle of Saudi forces was also destroyed.

The retaliation from comes a day after Saudi-led forces launched an airstrike in the southwestern city of Taiz. In the airstrike from Saudi-led forces, at least 15 people were killed while a dozen others were injured. Earlier, in the month of March, Saudi Arabia intercepted seven short-range ballistic missiles fired by Houthi rebels that targeted residential suburbs in Riyadh. In this deadly attack, one Egyptian citizen was killed while two others were injured.

Yemen has been embroiled in a violent conflict between the government headed by President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and the Yemeni forces. Since 2015, the Saudi-led coalition has been carrying out airstrikes against the Yemeni forces at Hadi’s request.

An estimated 6,00,000 civilians have been killed or wounded since the beginning of the Saudi-led campaign. Yemen is also suffering from the disastrous outbreak of cholera due to which 2180 civilians are killed while suspect cases have reached to 8,72,415 in the time period of 6 months.
