Yavatmal, Apr 13: The Indian society only has evolved and developed the principle and mechanism to take the entire society along on the path of development and progress. The collective progress of all the people is possible only through cooperation. But it is very difficult to gain the confidence of the people in cooperative movement. Absence of such a trust has driven the cooperative sector to the brink of distrust. However, the Yavatmal Urban Cooperative Bank has earned the trust of the people more than their deposits and this is the real strength of the bank, said Rashtraiya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarkaryawah Suresh alias Bhayyaji Joshi.

He was speaking at function held to inaugurate the newly constructed administrative building of the bank. The program was organised at the premises of Abhyankar Kanya Shala on Thursday. Sahkar Bharti National President Jyotindra Mehta presided over the function while bank Chairman Ajay Mundada, Vice-chairman Aashish Uttarwar and CEO Shrikant Deshpande were conspicuous by their presence on the dais.

Bhayyaji Joshi further said that sanskars (values) are most important for success in cooperative sector. Instead of ‘I’ and ‘we’, collective thought is vital. Collective thoughts generate from values and are more valuable for success in the cooperative sector, he said.

Joshi further siad that cooperative sector is not considered as trustworthy. However, ‘self-reliance’ and ‘dependence’ are two terms that are most commonly used. But for the cooperative sector a new term ‘interdependence’ is the most suitable instead of these two terms. The expression and experience of ‘interdependence’ can be had from cooperative sector, he said.

That is why it is necessary to gain the trust of the people, he said exhorting the bank officials to scale new heights in their forward journey henceforth.

He said that we need to rise above the self and this is possible only if you are wedded to an ideology and a lofty ideal. Fortunately, the bank has a battery of such people and the tradition begins from the late Babaji Datey. the founder of the bank, he said.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis was supposed to participate in the function but due to the BJP’s fasting program at Mumbai he had to rush there. However, his message was read out by MLA Madan Yerawar.

Chief Minister in his message said: “On Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call the BJP is observing fast across the country to protect democracy. I am attending one such program at Mumbai and hence could not attend the function”.

Bank chairman Ajay Mundada gave the details of the progress bank has made from a scracth 53 years ago to the present state. The then Sarsanghchalak of RSS late Balasaheb Dsevras was one of the shareholders of the bank in its early days, Mundada recalled.

Sahkar Bharati national president Jyotindra Mehta praised the bank for its achievements and said that the bank has succeeded in gaining the confidence of the people. Recalling the 53 year old tradition of the bank and the progress it has made in these years, Mehta said that he particularly liked the idea of honouring the persons who had given their services 50 years ago.

He said that Maharashtra had contributed greatly to the development of the cooperative sector. Maharashtra has 463 cooperative banks. Sahkar Bharati has been trying to bring all the 1504 cooperative banks in the country under one umbrella, he said.

Former director of the bank Prof Tatyarao Kunte, and former employee Sonba Sakharkar were felicitated on this occasion at the hands of Bhayyaji Joshi.
