CM Nitish Kumar, Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi and others nominated for the upcoming Bihar Legislative Council polls

Patna, April 16: Looking forward towards the upcoming biennial elections, JD(U) announced the names for its candidates for the State Legislative Council. Nominating the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar along with Sushil Kumar Modi and five others, parties have announced and nominated their candidates’ names for the biennial elections of State Legislative Council.

Confirming the news of nomination, State President Bashishtha Narayan Singh said that the party has nominated Chief Minister Nitish Kumar along with two young leaders Rameshwar Mahto and Khalid Anwar have been named candidates for the Legislative Council seats. 

Earlier in the day, the BJP and the Congress had listed their candidates. BJP has named Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, Health Minister Mangal Pandey and former Union minister Sanjay Paswan as its nominees, while the Congress fielded senior leader Prem Chandra Mishra as its lone candidate.

Four RJD candidates - former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi, state president Ramchandra Purbe, senior leaders Khurshid Mohsin and Santosh Manjhi - filed their papers on April 13.

Deputy Secretary of Bihar Assembly, Bhushan Kumar Jha said that if there are no other nominations filed for the elections apart from those named by the four parties by tomorrow, the results for all 11 seats could be declared on April 19.

Tomorrow is the last date for filing nominations for the council polls, scheduled to be held on April 26 for 11 seats to the Upper House.
