Chandra Babu Naidu seeks funds for Polavaram

Amaravati, April 17: Amidst the political tug of war between TDP and BJP, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandra Babu Naidu has urged center to release the pending funds of the national irrigation project Polavaram. Chairing the 57th review meeting, the Chief Minister requested center for the faster release of funds in order to achieve the proposed target.
According to state officials, the amount of RS 2,886.85 crore is pending with the center. As per the official statement, 13,364 crores have been spent by state government. Up till now, 8,229.11 crores has been released by the center.Reviewing the progress of construction, Babu asked state officials to speed up the construction of the diaphragm wall and jet grouting and other concrete works. On the front of Rehabilitation and Resettlement, the Polavaram officials informed that out of the 45 proposed colonies for 16,687 houses, work has started on 38.
