Fifteenth Finance Commission to address key fiscal issues of states: Chairman N.K. Singh

New Delhi, April 19: Fifteenth Finance Commission Chairman N.K. Singh today made it clear that the Commission will review the fiscal requirement of every state and assured due financial assistance for every region. According to media reports, this assurance comes after the crucial meeting between by Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister O. Pannerselvam and Finance Commission Chief N.K. Singh. During this interaction, Pannerselvam conveyed his government’s reservations about several issues including Terms of Reference (ToR).
Southern states like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry had raised their voice against Fifteenth Finance Commission. Earlier in the month, a conference of Finance Ministers was convened where the forum asked Finance Commission to address the concern issues of performing states.The Commission is scheduled to visit Tamil Nadu in September.
