Bengaluru/ Mysore, April 2: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has decided to contest the upcoming assembly polls from his traditional Chamundeshwari assembly constituency. According to media reports, the Chief Minister is keen on fielding his son Yathindra from Varuna. A seven-time lawmaker from Chamundeshwari shifted his assembly segment in 2008 as a part of the strategic move after delamination. This time, the senior Congress leader is once again pitching hard for Chamundeshwari seat.

A key assembly segment from Mysore region, Varuna is considered as the stronghold of Congress where principal opposition party BJP has geared up to make inroads in the region where it has failed miserably 2008 poll. BJP National President Amit Shah is closely monitoring the developments of these seats where BJP does not have sizable political ground.

In his recent meeting, Siddaramaiah dared BJP’s Chief Ministerial nominee B S Yeddyurappa to contest from Varuna constituency against his son Yatheendra. When asked about the much-anticipated fight between Yeddyurappa's son B Y Vijayendra and Yatheendra, the Chief Minister asserted that people will extend their support to Congress party.
