Makkal Needhi Maiam chief Kamal Haasan hails SC for Lokayukta verdict

In an official statement, Makkal Needhi Maiam demanded that state government without any delay tactics should initiate the process of setting up anti-graft body to tone down the rampant corruption in the state. The ace actor urged people to fight for the much-awaited development. The actor’s outfit admitted that if elected to power, the constitution of Lokayukta would be its first priority. The MNM slammed state government for ignoring the key issue like corruption.

Earlier, the apex court had directed 11 state governments to initiate the process of setting up Lokayukta office with an immediate effect. States like Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh and the union territory of Puducherry were under the scanner for not taking steps with respect to the appointment of Lokayukta.
