Big relief for farmers! Rajasthan introduces loan-waiver scheme of up to Rs 50,000

Jaipur, April 20: Benefitting the farmers, CM Vasundara Raje’s government announced a loan waiver scheme wherein for farmers under which crop loan of up to 50,000 rupees will be waived as per the budget.

 

Cooperative Minister of the State, Ajay Singh Kilak said, the scheme has been launched under which cooperative banks will hold camps for waiving loans up to 50,000 rupees of small and marginal farmers. He said it was a historic decision which will benefit a large number of farmers in the state.

While this move will cost Rs 8,000 crore to the State exchequer, no new taxes were imposed in the budget.

The Chief Minister also announced exemption to small and marginal farmers from the payment of land revenue and establishment of a State Farmers’ Debt Relief Commission as a permanent institution for settlement of crop loans on merit basis.

Raje also announced setting up a farmer loan relief commission where farmers can approach and present their side for getting relief on merit basis.
