Indian kids all set to sparkle at the Football For Friendship programme in Russia

New Delhi, April 21: Indian talent in sports is not something which has been hidden so far. Indian Athletes have showcased their potential and talent on the international platform and have performed incredibly. Expanding the reach of enabling Indian sports on international ground, two kids have been selected to represent India for Football For Friendship social programme in Russia.

 
Two 12-year-old football enthusiasts Surya Varikuti and Rudresh Gaudnour have been selected as Indias representatives at the global Football For Friendship (F4F) social programme in Russia. Aiming at developing youth football and healthy lifestyle, the F4F programme has been supported by Gazprom and FIFA.

The programme also aims at promoting tolerance, open-mindedness and respect for different cultures and nationalities between children from across the globe. The children will be part of the 32 International Teams of Friendship and play against each other in the Gazprom Football For Friendship International Championship. The friendly tournament intends at bringing together children from around the world and celebrates the unifying spirit of football.

This year, the F4F programme has expanded to 211 countries and regions. This is the second time that India will participate in the programme.

While Surya will join young footballers from around the world in Moscow in June, Rudresh will act as a journalist reporting details of all the local and global activities of the F4F programme as part of the International Childrens Press Center.

Rudresh will also spread awareness on the Nine Values (friendship, equality, fairness, health, peace, devotion, victory, traditions and honour) of the F4F programme. The selection of the young footballer was conducted by All India Football Federation (AIFF), picking the best defender, fitting the criteria, from a team that conceded the least number of goals.
